About Us
Sound of Wings Studio is located in Southwest Lower Michigan on fifteen acres of gently rolling meadows filled with wildlife, wildflowers, lightly wooded areas and cultivated gardens of flowers and vegetables.
I come from a family of gardeners and it's been only natural for me to be inspired by the beautiful gardens my mother and grandmother created. Many of my botanical works use specimens from their collections. I've been a natural science illustrator for more than twenty years and I'm a long time member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. My work has been included in books, magazines, murals, ceramic housewares and greeting cards.
My main medium is gouache, an opaque watercolor, because of the great amount of detail I can attain. I also work in pen and ink, transparent watercolor, graphite, pastel, acrylics, oil and colored pencil. Besides botanicals, my subjects are also wildlife, horses, dogs, pets, domestic livestock and landscapes.
I take great pride in my studio, my commitment to my customers and in the artwork I sell. My online store is designed to provide you with a safe and secure environment to browse my image gallery.
